That 70s chic

Personal style is such that it is a reflection of the individual’s taste, experiences, and perhaps even aspirations. It is a form of self expression. Adventurous, elegant, sprinkled with a high dosage of quirkiness, I like to think of my style as an expression of the modern woman with an edge- classy but not afraid to be quirky either. She stands out from the crowd, for the right reasons.I love that fashion can transcends eras and cultures. Add personal style and the options are limitless.Today’s look is inspired by the 70s era. The double plaid look was one well played (see what I did there!πŸ˜‚) with the clever juxtaposition of colors.Think Farrah Fawcett. Think plaids. Think wide legs. Think vibrant colorsI bought each of these items separately not knowing what I would pair with what. As soon as I got the jumper, I thought of the plaid pants and thus; like a puzzle, piece after piece, it all came together. That for me, is the most exciting and possibly fulfilling part of creating a look. Starting with a blank canvas and creating something you are proud of, can relate to, and and hopefully, one that others can connect with. Hope you like the look.

Happy new month. December, be good to us all.

Love,

The Emerald lass.xox

Back to School

So school/uni is back in session and the fashion aspect is certainly not in recess either.

With autumn mode activated, it’s sweater weather and this slogan sweatshirt from River Island comes in handy for that casj chic, I-just-threw-this-on look. It’s the perfect combo of chic and comfort and of course, with the slogan Feminism emblazoned across the chest, it was a no brainer. Power to the Sisters!πŸ˜€

To balance things out, I matched the bright orange with a pair of white distressed skinny jeans with some floral embroidery. The result: certainly more than A for effort!😜πŸ’ͺ🏾

This look is not just for students but is also perfect for that off-duty look. Whatever you get up to this weekend, hope you get some weekend style inspo from this. Have a fantastic weekend.

Love,

Your favourite lass.xox

The Emerald Lass

You don’t need to know me too well to know that I’m a bit of a girly girl. That means I’m more likely to be found in a frilly dress or tulle skirt than anything else.

I also wouldn’t be The Emerald lass if I wasn’t all about my greens. No, not the ones on my dinner plate.😬 I love almost every shade of green there is out there but Emerald remains my fave. Such a rich and vibrant shade, what a gem!

Summer may be packing up its bags but that’s not about to stop me from going for gold, (well, green) in this Topshop wrap dress. I love the lady-like appeal of dresses. In a wrap dress, you can’t be anything short of a lady. I’m not usually one to favor low necklines so this was a little out of my comfort zone. But I love that it’s low but not revealing and I hope I still managed to pull off a classy, demure look whilst adding a bit of sass.If you’re worried about being weather appropriate, throw on a pair of tights or fishnets, add a pretty cardigan or a blazer and Bob’s your uncle!πŸ˜€ To compliment the dress, I paired it with my pink ASOS pumps and added my green fur box bag from Mango.

What I wore last summerΒ

We’ve all been there. Worn that beautiful occasion dress and perhaps it was even a hit on your Instagram feed. You’d love to wear it again but you’re just purely vain and don’t want to be seen to be repeating clothes worried it’s already gotten enough hype and now bordering on overkill? Wedding season is here and that only means one thing; you need outfits to stand out in! Continue reading What I wore last summerΒ
