Parisian Chic

French women don’t have too many clothes- a few good pieces that last for a while and are classic and timeless. – Mireille Guiliano.

Fashion month has come and gone. In the last few weeks, it’s not just the models that have hit the runways, the fashion rat packs across the fashion capitals of the world have graced the streets in all their sartorial glory. In its wake, we have been left with more of a not-so-secret desire to emulate the elegance and style displayed on the catwalks as best as we mere mortals can muster._MG_1750_MG_1753

By now, everyone and their dog knows I love colours; vibrant colours. But there’s also something about a simple monochromatic approach to an outfit. After envying the effortlessness of ze French during Paris Fashion week, I thought I’d share this white and black ensemble I put together recently for a shoot. This outfit, you could say was accidental; I didn’t plan it and literally put it together the morning of this shoot. The principle of Parisian chic has been said to be a paradox; a balance between formal and casual, masculine and feminine._MG_1748The principle of Parisian chic is rather simple; it’s a paradox; a balance between formal and casual, masculine and feminine. With the return of the 70’s themed apparels came a reaffirmation of my love for flares. These pair of Zara palazzo’s I have had for about 3 years and barely worn more than twice. I bought the white dipped hem blouse top just at the end of last season’s Zara sale and have been itching to wear it. It had never quite worked the way I imagined in my head the few times I tried to combine it with something else. Until now and voila…_MG_1755_MG_1763_MG_1764

I like the combination of simple elegance with the pretty, crisp white blouse and a more androgynous look with the baggy pants. Needless to say, white and black are forever classics. The white shirt/blouse regardless of what form or shape it comes in will always be a hit. I finished off the look with a white and black River Island blazer whilst accessorising with my Paul’s Boutique tote that has proved itself worthy as the everyday bag in the last few months._MG_1766_MG_1768This look can work for both night and day looks. _MG_1769_MG_1777_MG_1800_MG_1781
